Best Collagen of 2024

Winner - Wellah The Afterglow Collagen

Calling all health and wellness enthusiasts who want to enhance their beauty routine! Collagen is a trending powdered supplement that can help you feel like you're glowing from the inside out.

Collagen is found in many animal products and is often consumed as a powdered supplement as well. In addition to supporting hair health, collagen can help strengthen and improve nails, skin, and joints.

Since collagen has become so popular, there are endless supplement options online for what kind of collagen to use each day. Luckily for you, this is my specialty. I have researched, ordered, and tried some of the most popular and highly-rated collagen products available online.

After thoroughly checking them all out, I have ranked my favorites in order for you. It was important for me to pick affordable options that are still really high-quality supplements without unnecessary fillers. So keep reading to check out my list!

What I loved:

  • Servings: 30
  • High Quality: 3rd Party Tested, GMP-compliant facility
  • Powerful Formula: 14 g of collagen
  • 5 kinds of collagen peptides, plus biotin and vitamin-C
  • Non-GMO and Gluten-Free
  • Orange Mango Flavor

What could be better:

  • Price is higher than others at $28 per tub or $0.93 per serving

What I loved:

Wellah is a newer women’s supplement line with a super potent formula - the most impressive on the list. It includes 1, II, III, V, and X peptides, plus biotin and vitamin C. Each serving is hefty, over 17 g of powder, which gives you 14 g of protein per serving.

I loved the Orange Mango flavor. It’s easy to mix with water and tastes delicious mixed with orange juice. Each tub has 30 servings of great-flavored collagen powder.

As #1 on my list, this is another high-quality supplement with 3rd party testing to ensure purity and potency and it is manufactured in a GMP-compliant facility

What could be better:

Wellah is one of the higher-priced options. I placed it at #1 on this list because the pros are really great and for those that want the ultimate in Collagen and are less worried about price that big dose of protein and peptides will be worth it to them.

There is a lot to love about Nutricost Collagen Hydrolysate! It has an unbeatable price and offers 41 servings per tub. The overall price is only $23.95, which is great. Each serving costs only 58¢ and provides 10 g of protein from type 1 and 3 peptides. It’s a simple formula, so the only other ingredients are trace amounts of sodium, calcium, and phosphorus.

What could be better:

This powder is easy to mix, but it’s not the finest powder on the list. Since I usually mix this with juice or a smoothie, it’s not an issue for me. But this is a pretty nitpicky comment and only applies to those who mix it with plain water.

What I loved:

  • Price: $19.96 or 42¢ per serving
  • Servings: 48
  • Formula: Hydrolyzed Collagen
  • Dairy-free, soy-free, and contains no gluten ingredients

What could be better:

The price per serving is great, just 42¢ per serving or $19.96 per bottle.

These tablets are dairy-free, soy-free, and contain no gluten.

What could be better:

Each serving of Youtheory collagen provides 6 grams of collagen, which is less than most of this list. If that is enough for you, that’s great. However, some may want more collagen per serving.

What I loved:

  • Price: $29.99 or 78¢ per serving

  • 12 g collagen per serving
  • Streamlined hydrolyzed formula from type 1 & 3 peptides
  • Gluten-free, kosher, halal, non-GMO tested, no preservatives
  • Fine powder

What could be better:

  • Tall tub does not fit in all cabinets

What I loved:

Great Lakes has a good price point for a 38-serving tub of hydrolyzed collagen. Each tub costs $29.99, or 78¢ per serving. With 38 servings, that is a nice amount for an affordable price price. The formula is simple: just the collagen from types 1 and 3 peptides.

Each serving has 12 g of collagen and is Gluten-free, kosher, halal, and non-GMO tested. Additionally, there are no preservatives, which is great.

The last thing - this was an especially fine powder, which made it super easy to mix in any drink.

What could be better:

This is extremely nitpicky and it certainly might be a non-issue for some people, but since this tub is smaller in diameter, it is quite a bit taller than the other options. As a result, it didn’t fit in all of my cabinets. I had to find the tallest one up high to store it. That said, this is a solid collagen product..

Additionally, it is 3rd party tested for quality, non-GMO, and gluten-free. Sports Research is highly rated on Amazon. This is a highly recognizable brand.

What could be better:

The price per serving is over $1 per serving, so it is higher than our #1 pick. However, at $35.95, the overall price is not too high if you want an organic option.

Each serving provides 10 g of collagen from peptides 1 & 3. The powder is non-GMO tested and free of gluten, soy, lactose, and corn.

What could be better:

This is not the most mixable powder. It’s standard but not as soluble as a few others on the list. However, that is not a big deal for me since I usually get my collagen in a daily smoothie.

They have a high-quality powder that is Whole30 approved, hydrolyzed with zero sugar, and comes from grass-fed cows. It is also paleo-friendly, kosher, and made without gluten and dairy.

What could be better:

This is one of the pricier options, most likely due to its high quality. The price per serving is $1.74, which is the highest on this list. That price point may be out of reach for some people, but it may also be worth the extra dollars to others, so it just depends on what your priorities are when looking for a collagen powder.

What could be better:

  • Price: $47 or $1.68 per serving

What I loved:

Ranking Criteria

Based on the research, collagen supplementation can clearly help with overall health and wellness. I wanted to find out which options are the best.

I checked out 9 collagen supplements, including some big-name brands, some up-and-coming brands, and maybe some you’ve never heard of before.

For this review, I tried out mostly unflavored collagen but threw one flavored collagen option in there because it was just that good. For consistency, I mixed them each with water. I wanted to limit the variables so I could give you the most accurate results. Keep in mind you can always mix this in with your favorite fruit juice, smoothie, or even a cup of coffee.

That said, for this review, I also took into consideration whether the brand offered additional flavored collagen options as well, as that can be a big benefit to those who want to change things up once in a while.

As I tested these out, I considered the following criteria:

  1. Formula: The biggest thing I was looking at was the amount of collagen in the powder and the amount of creatine monohydrate per serving. I also considered how much protein is in each serving.

  2. Price: I know that no one (including me) wants to spend an arm and a leg on supplements. That's why I heavily prioritized the overall price of the creatine supplement in my rankings. Part of the price factor is the overall amount of servings per tub, which helps determine the price per serving.

  3. Flavor Variations: Another factor that influenced my ranking was whether this powder came in flavored variations, especially since it is nice to have some options.

  4. Brand Reputation: The last factor I considered was how reputable the brand was to me. The more products the brand offered, the higher the quality and the number of Amazon reviews, the more assured I felt about that brand.

What is Collagen?

Collagen is a type of protein found in the human body. It's the most abundant protein in mammals, comprising about 30% of the total protein content of our bodies. There are many kinds of protein, called peptides, and they are derived from animal products.

Why do people take Collagen?

Many people take collagen powder daily as part of a beauty routine. While popularized by women for its potential hair, skin, and nail benefits, there are no limits to who can take collagen.

Collagen also provides protein, which is another major reason that people take collagen. Supplementing a diet with collagen can help individuals with their daily protein goals.

What does Collagen do?

Collagen plays an essential role in helping us maintain healthy skin, joints, hair, and nails. Some clinical studies show that collagen can help to reduce brittleness in nails and can support hair growth.

Supplementing with collagen can help support skin health by providing support to the structure of the skin cells and helping strengthen skin elasticity.

For many users, it is important that collagen aids in joint health by supporting cartilage strength.
